About Farm To Neighbor

Food connects us.

Farm to Neighbor is a regional nonprofit working to connect our community to fresh, local, and whole food.

We believe strong local food systems benefit everyone. When neighbors can afford fresh food, when farmers have more opportunities to sell what they grow, and when community organizations have the resources to meet local needs, our whole community is stronger.

Our work brings these pieces together through programs that increase access to fresh food, support regional farmers, and build partnerships across our community.

Our Story

Our roots go back to 2009, when our work began with a single SNAP incentive program at the Spotsylvania Farmers Market. What started at one farmers market gradually grew into a regional network, helping more families use SNAP/EBT and Virginia Fresh Match to bring home fresh food while supporting local farmers and farmers markets.

In 2015, we expanded that work beyond the farmers market with Farm to Pantry, purchasing fresh produce from local farmers and working with food pantries and other community partners to get that food directly to neighbors throughout our region. Over the years, our work has continued to grow through strong relationships with farmers, farmers markets, food pantries, community organizations, and the communities we serve.

Today, farmers markets remain at the heart of our work, but our programs create multiple ways for fresh, locally grown food to reach our neighbors. In 2026, Virginia Community Food Connections became Farm to Neighbor—a name that better reflects the work we have grown into and the connections at the center of everything we do.
